Once you connect the wire to the charge controller, you may want to set it up so that power output is shunted to a dummy load instead of the battery or shorted altogether. You may need to use a string line or fish tape to help you thread the wire through the pipe. Thread the wires through the bearing to the top of the head assembly and connect them to the generator. Connect the other end of the wire to the generator. You can then reconfigure the charge controller so that power output is directed to the battery. You should enclose the charge controller to protect it from moisture, and you may also want to wire in a voltage meter to monitor power output. You may periodically have to disconnect and untwist the wires if the turbine’s rotation in the wind causes them to twist too badly. If there are species that migrate at that area, avoid building turbines there. You may not be able to generate enough power to recoup the cost of such an installation, let alone turn a profit.

Automotive alternators need to spin at very high speed to produce useful amounts of power. My online research showed that a lot of people were building their own generators. Others were using surplus permanent magnet DC motors as generators in their projects. This web site talks about the virtues and vices of various Ametek motors when used with homemade wind generators. There are probably lots of other brands and models of permanent magnet DC motors available that will work well as generators. Permanent magnet DC motors work as generators, but they weren’t designed to be generators. Some types of motor are a lot worse than others. So what you are looking for is a motor that is rated for high DC voltage, low rpms and high current. Steer away from low voltage and/or high rpm motors. You want a motor that will put out over 12 Volts at a fairly low rpm, and a useful level of current. So shop for motors accordingly. People are catching on to the fact that they make great wind generators. Shop wisely.

If there is a much cheaper tech then use it. The idea everyone is forced to use a bankrupting technology, suppresses the economy and financial resources that could be used for other things, and raises all power bills thus draining disposable incomes of all, due to the lame old CO2 global warming excuse, is completely bonkers.

It is built using Brand New GM Delco alternator components including NEW Stator Coils , factory balanced Stainless Steel shaft. Built-in rectifier provides DC output if you don’t want to use the 3-phase External Rectifier output connection. In most areas of the country the wind only blows over 70 MPH maybe twice a year during a Large Thunderstorm and you’re in the storm cellar hoping the roof is still on when you come out!! The fact is in most areas of the country the average winds are less than 20 MPH. But if you live in an area with average winds Above 6 MPH than this kit is for you. The chart below represents the actual output of this kit. Not enough overall energy in the winds.

Wherever you live, your power comes from a complex grid (network) of highly interconnected power-generating units (ranging from giant power plants to individual wind turbines). Utility companies are highly adept at balancing power generated in many different places, in many different ways, to match the load (the total power demand) as it varies from hour to hour and day to day. The power from any one wind turbine will fluctuate as the wind rises and falls, but the total power produced by thousands of turbines, widely dispersed across an entire country, is much more regular and predictable. For a country like the UK, it’s pretty much always windy somewhere. It’s also worth bearing in mind that wind is extremely predictable several days in advance so it’s easy for power planners to take account of its variability as they figure out how to make enough power to meet expected demands.
